Admirers of a well-played bait-and-switch should by all means engage Across USA Moving and Storage. It will cost you a bundle but you�ll see masters at work.



We agreed on a price for a move from Houston to Durango, Colo. At the pickup, the foreman loaded everything and then informed our daughter that the cost would be $5,000 above the original figure. Part of that was justified because we had underestimated the number of boxes needed � but not by $5,000.



Another $1,625 was tacked on for packing materials. Again, part of it was justified as we needed boxes for a large-screen TV, mattresses and a few other items. We did not need, for example, an ironing board padded and covered with tape. We asked repeatedly for an itemized bill for these materials and never received one.



At delivery, on a Sunday, the foreman demanded an additional $1,221, claiming that the parking area at our condo complex would not accommodate his van and he had to rent a shuttle. It simply wasn't true.

We had the worst experience with this company!! It was our first time using a moving company so we were already skeptical of someone moving our furniture from Texas all the way to California.
Not only did they charge us 4 times more than what they originally “estimated" but they did not show up on the date originally scheduled. Then they charged $600 more for a so called “storage fee" and told us we had to pay if we wanted to ever get our furniture back. Again, we're paying for storage because they did not show up. One of their employees told us they messed up our date and mysteriously (within a weeks time) she is no longer working there. Finally, within about a month of me sleeping on the floor with no furniture or clothing, we contacted lawyers and even the Dallas Police Department. When we told them this our things were suddenly on their way to us. We are in the process of filing a civil suit. Do not use them!!! This is a huge scam!!! They have to be stopped!!!!!

I have worked with Across USA on 4 office moves. They are prompt, professional and easy to work with. The actual movers are always friendly, helpful and patient. We had no issues and not one thing was broken throughout all of the moves. I highly recommend them to anyone who needs to move their personal or office stuff.

They were wonderfully responsive all the way from giving their estimate to confirming the move-in date, provided lots of useful tips, and were both thorough and extremely pleasant throughout the whole process. I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently they emptied a four-bedroom house, and how helpful they were in getting everything set up at the new place. I've moved a LOT and these guys were the best movers I've ever dealt with.

April 19, 2013 I didn't know who to call so I said a little prayer to God and found Across USA Moving! They were very professional working in a very difficult situation and I highly recommend this company to anyone. I was leaving Prosper due to domestic violence and on the day of the move my husband literally turned up the heat; the temperature in the house most have been 100 degrees! This did not deter the crew sent to help me pack and even though the situation was rather tense they kept a great attitude were very courteous and careful and I just fell in I love with the beautiful spirit of these people. They made the experience the best possible and did a marvelous job moving all my household belongings. Across USA Moving became my HERO!!! Best Regards

I am a Pastor taking on a new assignment moving from Texas to Missouri. All though the price may seem
Right please know that in moving I've come to realize you get what you pay for. I can go into many, many Situations we've had with them. However here is one that brings great concern to me.
In their contract specifically says that upon arrival for packing and pick up, it says there can be anywhere From a 10 to 15% increase which we were completely fine with, we understood that and that was very clear Here was the problem. 15% for our particular deal would have been 1500.00. They came back with an Increase of 3800. We asked why & know 1 could give us an intelligent answer or explanation.
What they do is wait till you are in a tight squeeze in regards to time and schedule thinking you will be stuck And have 2 sign the increase. We kindly asked them 2 take their staff & stuff and please leave our home. I have casted There info into outer darkness in the midst whaling & nashing of teeth.

The movers were great overall. They did a nice job packing up my stuff. They were punctual in their arrival at my new place. . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for their overall professionalism.

We found ACROSS USA movers online and were extremely pleased with their service. Firstly, they were available the same day we called them!They worked well with us and offered appropriate suggestions. Our job was bigger than we anticipated but this didn't bother them. We all worked until the job was completed. They were extremely courteous, efficient and, bottom line, very good at a very difficult job (VERY heavy item, narrow space, etc). We gave ACROSS USA Movers a 10/10 rating and would highly recommend them to anyone needing their services.

I've heard horror stories about movers, but from the get go this company was on the ball. The company was great in answering all my initial questions and concerns, and the two gents they had do the move were quick, polite, professional and got the job done. Highly recommend these guys.

I never thought I would write a review for a moving company, but Across U.S.A. Moving really outdid themselves. My roommate and I were moving from an elevator building to a 2nd floor walk-up. I called Across U.S.A. Moving when I was price shopping and they immediately came in lower priced then most of the other people I spoke with. They assured me this would be quick and easy. The guys came on time as scheduled and wrapped all of my furniture in moving pads to assure no damage. They quickly moved everything to the new walk up in no time. The price and the service made moving painless. I highly recommend Thank you, John

Across USA Moving and Storage has their scam down to a science and deserves exposure! Since my disasterous experience with this company, I have researched complaints made against them and found that many other people experienced the same artfully deceitful ruse. I throw my hat in the ring with these fellow victims. We are poorer but wiser. Here is my story...Two years ago (why, you ask, am I just now writing this complaint? Read to the end and you will see!), a very nice saleswoman negotiated with me a fair price for moving a 10x10 storage unit full of furniture to Michigan from Texas. The contract stated I was to pay 1/2 now and 1/2 upon delivery. I paid the first 1/2 using my credit card. My first mistake... I was out of town when the movers picked up the items from the 10x10 storage, and loaded it into their truck. After everything was loaded, the movers presented my daughter, who was present to unlock the unit, with a form to sign which dramatically inflated the price for the move. With no way to contact me, she felt she had no choice but to sign. When I contacted the company refusing to pay more than the original contracted price, they claimed there was more volume than I had described to the saleswoman. How could that be when all the items loaded into the truck were extracted from a 10x10 storage unit? They also claimed over $300 in packing material expense which consisted of 2 pieces of used cardboard haphazardly taped to the front of 2 televisions. A prolonged email negotiation ensued in an attempt to resolve the dispute. All the while, my possessions were being held hostage in some storage facility until I paid their inflated quote. Even though the contract explicitly stated that the balance was not due until delivery, repeated demands were made for a cashiers check or cash before they would deliver the goods. This went on for almost a month until my credit card bill came in the mail. I was furious to discover that they had already, back on the day of pick up, fraudulently charged my Visa account, without my approval, for an amount that was almost double the contracted price. (VISA found for me and declared the charge fraudulent.) In the meantime, my possessions were delivered to Michigan. The burly, intimidating movers demanded a cash payment (although the company had already collected the balance with a fraudulent charge to my VISA). I called the owner of Across USA who was verbally abusive but who called off his henchmen after I threatened to get the police involved. If that weren't enough drama, many items were damaged, the bed completely broken. And to add insult to injury, I was told that I had to submit their claim form for damages which they refused, even after multiple phone and written requests, to send me! After many abusive calls from the owner, I requested all further communication be done in writing, which he refused. It appears the company has a preference for harassing phone calls. Before entertaining a quote from Across USA, google Across USA Moving Complaints. You will discover, on many complaint websites, stories similar to mine being told over and over. This company's tactic is to woo clients by quoting a fair price then inflate that price when the client is most vulnerable. I assume they are aware that moves often involve work related or housing deadlines, so after they have your possessions in their truck and your move seems to be on track, only then do they demand your signature on an inflated quote. If you have a tight deadline, you have no choice but to sign and try to reason with the company later, in which case they threaten to hold your possessions hostage at an undisclosed location. And the icing on the cake is that after all this, should they damage your possessions, they implement a Catch-22XXXdemanding all complaints arrive on forms which they are unwilling to supply. The end of my story: We are STILL dealing with this company 2 YEARS LATER! The owner of Across USA filed suit against my daughter in small claims court. She never received a notification of the court date. Unfortunately, as is habit when there is a no show in small claims court, the judge automatically found for the owner of Across USA, a man who committed fraud against me. We are in the process of an appeal to the judge for reversal, which, as I understand it, is rarely successful. Regrettably, we did not have our day in court to present the copious written evidence we saved should such an unfortunate event occur and now my daughter's credit is damaged. Dealing with Across USA has been exceedingly costly.




This company deserves to have its deceitful business practices exposed.

I chose to move with across USA after I was scammed by another company, their staff promised me they would be timely and take care of me. They charged me extra for an expedited pick up, and then arrived 7 hours late. It has been 2.5 weeks and I am still waiting. The driver called me at 7 am this morning to say he would be here by 2pm, 7 hours later he is still not here. He actually screamed at me on the phone, saying he was doing me a favor. I don't know how moving companies exist, my only experiences have been horrible. They have no respect for others, and I can only imagine how bad of shape my stuff is going to be in. I feel sorry for their secretary, she is the only decent person that works there.

This Company is terrible an absolute bunch of rejects. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money.

Thank god I was only moving a few things or I would have been in deep with these clown shoes

My move with Across U.S.A. has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Has anyone else noticed that the majority of the &quot;Testimonials&quot; on the company's website are handwritten on their own letterhead?!

First, they showed up late and took over 8 hours to complete my move. I have a 2 bedroom apartment, and was only moving things out of 1 of the bedrooms. I have moved before and the entire load, drive, and unload process took less than 2 hours. The workers from Across would stand around my apartment, spend time chatting it up, and disappear for extended lengths of time.

Second, they doubled the cost of the move. After loading all of my items on to the truck, I was given a bill for twice my original quote. I asked why they did not address this cost increase BEFORE moving any of my belongings, and I received a mumbling rambling response and told to take it up with management. Across knew they had me in a corner as my items were already on the truck and I had to leave the next day.

Finally, I was forced to do much of the moving myself. I moved from a very busy city where street parking is very hard to come by. The truck from Across showed up (several hours late) and parked on the street outside of my apartment. I was informed by the driver that if the cops came, he'd have to leave early and leave behind whatever they could not get on the truck. However, instead of relaying this message to his hired help so that perhaps they would hustle, he suggested to me that I carry boxes well. I carried boxes and loaded the truck while his workers stood around. Granted they did move the much heavier items, but that's about all they did. On top of that, they left my items on the street and on the sidewalk where any passerby could take or damage them. Thankfully, my neighbors appear to be more honest than Across.

In the end, I paid $6,500 (over twice my original quote) to move myself. I could have done the same thing with a U-Haul, hiring local help at both ends, for about $800. Complaints to management and their legal department went nowhere and I was threatened with having my items &quot;moved into an alley where they will be free for the taking&quot; if I didn't pay the remaining balance demanded by Across U.S.A.

There are many good moving companies out there, and I have had nothing but positive experiences with other movers in the past. There is no reason why these good companies should not get your business and hopefully put Across U.S.A. out of business.
