Our local, Kansas City area affiliate was super accommodating and friendly. The first red flag should have been that the representative did not return our phone calls as the move date approached and we had already signed a contract.On move day:
Showed up late.The movers were impatient, very hurried and brusk. Reason for most of the damage; almost none of the pieces were blanket wrapped or otherwise covered. They carried everything down a flight of stairs (unprotected) and placed items out on the driveway before loading in the truck.

Our neighbor told us that the movers dropped outdoor furniture off the roof-top deck, we guess so they wouldn't have to carry it down the stairs! We were given an arrival date in California. No show. When called, the dispatcher was extremely rude and stated that: "I don't know if the truck broke down or the driver had a break down." (You can't make this up!)

The unloading was a bit better in that the California movers were more professional and careful. But, rushed and the head driver wanted us to sign all the paperwork very quickly, before the furniture was even in the house. (Beware, do not sign anything until you have examined every piece of furniture and box even if the mover demands it.)
We had purchased extra insurance through Stevens, (at a very high rate.) Our claims for damage were met with:
- Delay, delay, delay.
- They claimed that our furniture had been previously damaged which is not true.- Stated on several pieces that damages were minimal and would not affect the use. (Broken chair or sofa back, missing legs and deep gouges are not minimal!)- For pieces that they would acknowledge had been damaged by their negligence, extremely low reimbursement was offered.
Stevens Worldwide Van Lines turned our move into a nightmare.

I chose Stevens to take my belongings from California to North Carolina. I will say right up front that the movers on both ends were TOP NOTCH.....and my belongings arrived in good condition. The sad thing to report (and one that brought much stress) is that there was no customer service at all (even with tearful calls to Corporate to ask for information on arrival 4 times!!) and they were over 9 days later than what they said. No apologies, they just ignored me while I slept in a a cold empty house filled with stress that they would arrive after I started work. This delay cost me money and heart ache; and they would not do anything to right this wrong. Apparently they would have paid hotel and food for my 'inconvenience' but I had animals and could not do that luxury while waiting for them. They put me last on their list of deliveries and never apologized for it. Again, had they been honest in their communication it would have made it easier. It starts top DOWN!

I have moved 10 times across the country but NEVER have I had such a terrible moving company! They damaged stuff, were broken down on the road, late by 3 days with my delivery, got lost, then they said they would be there and showed up 1hours late with no helpers and had to wait 4 more hours for some help to show up! The driver was badmouthing the company, saying how cheap and worthless they were. He was rude, they were rude. If you want added stress and anxiety with your move just go with Steven's. From the president down, they are uncooperative, unprofessional and untrained.

Under estimated ours and co-workers loads - was supposed to be only two of us on one semi. Couldn't get our stuff on the truck so we had to make special arrangements to store the second half of our load while they scrounged for another truck to pick up five days later. 2nd truck was almost full so they crammed our stuff in stepping on things as they loaded damaging some of our goods removing some of the other three clients on that truck and intermixing all of our goods together! Delivery was horrible -movers dropping our nice quality night stands down concrete stairs, lost our precious picture of daughter and denied the claim because we didn't catch it between the two circus events they called delivery. Illegible inventories, blamed us for not being able to identify contents of boxes as they flew past my husband because much of the inventory did not even name the contents of boxes. Wish I'd found this site Sooner. Btw, this is the first internet complaint I've ever submitted.

Our experience with Stevens is an ongoing practical and legal nightmare, now in its 3rd month, delivery still not completed, goods lost, others horribly damaged. Now Stevens is sending us forged and altered documents in order to try to bill us even more.
Without our permission Stevens rang up more than $18,000 on our credit cards before any delivery or any billing was made.
The 1st truck arrived a day late, delivered broken furniture, damaged art and items missing. Our refrigerator was beaten up, and its handles gone. If a packaged crate said TOP &
UP & FRAGILE!, the unloading crew would fling it and pile other stuff on top Truck 2 arrived 26 days later than contract and 22 days later than the drop dead deadline to which Stevens was contractually bound. Stevens breach of contract were both profit-based business decisions.
Stevens sent us copies of various documents signed by my husband during the move. Only these copies have been altered by Stevens AFTER he signed.

We had an antique lamp table whose 1 of 3 legs was broken during

the move and a Futon set of drawers which were broken too.

THe Stevens movers took their own pictures of the damaged goods

and told us that they 'would take care of it" and "not to worry"

we would get reimbursed for the damage.

Well.. after the run around with the appraiser the moving co.

sent.. (since we threw out the damaged Futon drawers AND

had the Lamp table fixed AND mailed the bill to the movers)

.... Stevens would NOT reimburse us for ANYTHING.

Moral of the story? Don't trust Steven's Moving. And IF you happen to use them.. you MUST KEEP THE DAMAGED GOODS till the appraiser

gets to you... which could be 2-3 months as in our case.

Good Luck. Since we moved to an apartment we just did NOT have the room and HAD to get the table fixed.... thinking that the Movers were

good for their word.

Moved from Maine to Florida a month ago and Stevens treated me great. Price was reasonable and the delivery was right on time. I would highly suggest this company, the staff is great and workers are friendly!

Our move was not so big, around 50 items, and still they lost 4 of them, including a box with our most expensive clothes. We were shocked when we found out, and would not recommend this company to anybody, unless you want to get rid of your valuables!!!

We are moving from KS to MA, this is a move this company cannot handle. First we were told we would probably get our stuff LAST Friday. We signed for an apartment (so now we are paying rent). Then we were told no later than Monday. Then we were told our stuff was still in Kansas because the driver bailed on them. They had no idea when we would get our stuff. Then we were told its looking like it might be this week. We asked about an Inconvenience claim, it took 8 hours and talking to at least 6 different people and getting 6 different stories about what they pay for. My kids continue to sleep on the floor, I’m paying rent for an apartment that they told me to get but I don’t have my stuff. The customer service is horrible; they will not return your call, have horrible attitudes, give false information and could care less about your family. Avoid this company at all costs.

Stevens World Wide completed our move and for the most part things were well our weight went over a little and rasied our final balance and over all cost, this is the main reason why I gave them 4 stars but the movers did a nice job.

Moving is stressful, the movers and their procedures made it more so. I am finally down to unpacking the last of our boxes and bins and have discovered a box missing...which when everything was delivered we couldn't account for 1 box and 1 bin. A box of books. I wouldn't really mind but they are not just any books- they are books about Vietnam, books from the Vietnam museum in Chicago and a scrapbook that took me hours to compile not including the time and money I spent running all over town for supplies. This was a gift to my Husband for Christmas one year-who wondered just what I was up to and &quot;I hope this isn't something stupid.&quot; When he opened this gift he was speechless and dumbfounded...it was the first time I ever saw him speechless and welled up with tears, I hope whoever receives this box by mistake will return it or call the moving company so it can be rightfully returned to the Army Veteran that it belongs to. Thank you. moving date 6-29-2011 delivery 7-5-2011

Don't Hire Stevens (Worldwide) Van Lines,

Extensive furniture damage. Dining table gouged: broken trestle leg. Also two never used framed mirrors packed by Stevens leaving all 4 corners of both mirrors exposed and crushed. Frames were cracked through at corners.
Heavy 5 drawer steel filing cabinet was moved out on Stevens hand truck. They delivered it without a hand truck. I offered to remove the drawers but movers refused. They walked it up the entrance stairs, one corner at a time, damaging many bricks.
Reported damage immediately but ignored by HQ claims people. They sent furniture restorer for table but work was atrocious. Gouges colored over but still clearly visible. Repaired legs not stable and top no longer securely attached to the base. Stevens sent check for about $550 for damages. Cashed it because we were tired of fighting. Told VP of Risk Management we cashed the settlement check, but he promised to review file and respond promptly. What a joke! I contacted office 3 weeks later but they did not ever respond.

Stevens van lines just completed our move from Michigan to Florida and the move went very well. The men were quick and did an excellent job with our items. This is our 3rd move and I would have to say the best to date.
