Avoid This Company, Jan 05, 2012

We arranged a move at an hourly rate and were assured it would take less than 2 hours because we specifically scheduled it during the middle of the afternoon. Instead, the movers were several hours late, outside the promised time range, and rather than ask us or get directions for how to navigate the trip during rush hour, the movers decided to go directly through the Circle (the worst backup spot in Chicago) during rush hour! A simple call could have directed them to an alternate and much faster route. Of course, the trip took nearly twice as long, and they charged us $90 per hour for sitting in rush hour traffic in the Circle. Their reaction to our suggestion that they abide by their bait-and-switch offer to charge us for two hours--not their problem.
Moreover, they put a glass table--the only item we asked them to move--on the ground, chipping the edge. When we asked them to remedy this damage, they pointed to a clause in our contract where we allegedly agreed that the table was worth only $60, so they agreed to pay us only this amount. We would never have agreed that a $2000 table was worth $60, and we would not have hired movers for $300 to move a $60 table! At the very least, their contract was deceptive, but we wonder if they altered the contract after they discovered the table had been damaged.
Attempts to resolve the issue with customer service were totally unproductive. All we wanted was to be charged the $240 they assured us the move would cost (not well over $300) and to have the table repaired for less than $100, which should have been covered by their insurance. Their treatment of our move and our complaint were both shameful.

Two Men & a Truck provided good service for our move. The look and feel is very generic nothing fancy but the price was about 20% less then United and Atlas so we saved a few bucks.

Reality Check, Dec 03, 2011

| This was this single most un-excusable, messed up move in my 43 years of moving. I had called no less than 3 times days before the move to confirm the arrival time and move logistics. This is ENTIRELY the fault of the personnel involved, not travel problems, acts-of-god, including nature, or any external problems. Except for the generic admin who answered the phone, I was harassed, complained at, and un excusable moved no less than 4 hours past the latest acceptable time, by two movers who barely had a grasp of basic American English. The labor/movers themselves stated that they had already shipped an entire household before mine, and except for the mover who had no English, the semi-blind \'boss\' was lethargic, bitchy, complaining, and almost harassing at every single aspect of my basic, single household move. The secondary mover who spoke no English stated many, many times that the other guy was "mueo loco", and he diffidently was. At the 3 hour point past my latest acceptable move time with no arrival of the psycho movers, I was put on hold for no less than 22 minutes awaiting a arrival time 3 hours past. The generic adim finally answered stating "can I help you", as if no communication. logistics, or why I was on hold. The movers themselves, mainly the head semi "boss" psycho had no internal truck lighting, and I had to hold my available flashlight at ever twist and turn as a compassionate move on my part, as i lifted, carried, and struggled to help carry many, many pieces and boxes myself. NOTE: I am a semi-disabled United Stated Air Force Veteran with a concussion and a bad back. If anything, the only good of this move with Two men and a Truck was the secondary mover who spoke no English. He tried at his best to be professional, courteous, consciousnesses, and had some common sense. I am considering legal action for this un-excusable move, harassment by the supervisor who I had to speak to on the phone no less than 2 times, the way I was moved, and the harassment and bitching at me for no reason by the semi-blind "supervisor" mover who kept shoving the "i have been doing this for 6 years" excuse for his behavior at me for Two men and a Truck\'s failure on my deposit and verbal contract on time and responsible movers/laborers.
I also have come to find out I am missing two boxes, no doubt because of no lighting in the truck and the personnel that moved me. |

Lazy men and their cell phones, Sep 06, 2011

| Please check more than one website when reviewing movers. And DO NOT review the comments on their own website. Two Men and a Truck arrived late, had only two men present when I asked for three. The manager came by with another worker but wanted to charge me more for the extra guy, when I asked for three men to begin with. Then he told me he would do me a favor and not charge for the extra guy. They were lazy, they complained they were tired from other moves. They were unprofessional. They were careless with my furniture. One worker placed a cream colored chair, upside-down, on his dirty, sweaty, greasy head, damaging the fabric. They ignored my pleas to be careful with antiques.Due to their incredibly poor work ethic (none) this move took way longer then planned, (took them 9 hours to do half of what my other movers did in 4 hours) cost way more than budgeted and we had to rent a Uhaul to move what they didn\'t. |

Our move was performed by Two Men And a Truck out of Atlanta GA and I must admit that I was a little hesitant at first but overall the job got done at a pretty fair rate. The only real issue we had was our delivery took a few days longer than expected.
